Job Description

Digital Prepress and Design Specialist. This position combines the ability to prepare digital files for reproduction on large format digital printers with graphic design work. Production work ranges from submission of simple text documents, to the modification of existing customer artwork, to designing custom graphics based on client directives.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for a person with the following: positive attitude/ability to meet short deadlines, customer service skills, digital graphic production experience, design talent, and problem solving. This means that you will be able to communicate with clients as well as internal departments on digital file requirements, project status, and graphic design development. Candidate must also be able to work independently and manage time to meet deadlines. An understanding of the most current graphics software applications, and mastery of all Adobe Products is required.

Duties will include but are not limited to preflight, layout corrections, proofing, ripping and printing of files. Strong skills with all Adobe Products are a must. Qualified candidates for this position must have several years of experience or related experience. You must also have a strong working knowledge of preflighting, color calibration, and Onyx Rip software.

Responsibilities:
+ Determine prepress requirements by reviewing work orders, studying design, content, and specifications of each project
+ Develop design concepts by evaluating space requirements, type size and style, spacing, and graphics; reviewing customer's designs
+ Obtain layout approval by submitting completed design and layout; reviewing and implementing changes with clients.
+ Initiate printing production by transmitting files
+ Prepare and print files
+ Maintain prepress files by filing and retrieving layouts.
+ Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting software problems/repairs
+ Occasionally to meet tight deadlines, finishing and shipping of your work will be required

Qualifications:
+ College/university degree preferred
+ Several years in design-for-print, expertise
+ Demonstrated mastery of Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, PageMaker, PhotoShop, Microsoft Office products
+ Experience with large format printers is essential
+ Must have proven competence on hardware/software problem resolution
+ Self motivated with ability to work independently and under tight deadlines
+ Ability to work in high-production environment and ability to concentrate amid distractions
+ Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task
+ Ability to design and document departmental operating procedures
