Job Summary Responsible for completing all general accounting functions in an accurate and timely manner. Responsible for coordinating IT needs with the Chief Financial Officer. Supervises accounting assistant, commodity assistant and custodian/groundskeeper. Requires strong understanding of grain accounting and the grain markets. Essential Functions Ensure compliance with and follow all corporate guidelines and policies Establish and maintain the highest integrity of the company Maintain confidentiality of all company information Set a positive example for all company employees Ability to work professionally and respectfully with customers and co-workers, treating everyone with enthusiasm, empathy and patience Work in a safe manner at all times and participate in and understand environmental, health and safety programs and regulations Attend all required safety meetings and follow all safety policies and strictly adhere to all standard precautions and practices established to reduce the potential of occupational exposures Practice the proper use and treatment of all company equipment and property Accurately complete all required reports within required due dates Ability to review reports and take follow-up action where appropriate Complete month end closing processes and reconciliations; prepare monthly financial statements and reports for the company Complete month end closing processes and reconciliations; prepare monthly financial statements and reports in coordination with fellow accounting managers Strong understanding of grain markets in order to assist with grain purchases and hedging functions to cover for grain merchandiser Assist with all audits and preparation of tax return Coordinate reporting to government and other regulatory agencies to ensure accurate and timely completion Assist with IT functions Ensure all records are neatly organized and maintained according to the record retention policy Housekeeping as related, but not limited to the cleanliness and orderly organization of work area and supervising shared custodian/groundskeeper with the company Participate in staff meetings as needed Participate in cross-training opportunities to expand skills and knowledge across the company Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the department Other duties not listed herein, but which need to be accomplished to maintain safe and timely day-to-day operations Education, License and/ or Certification: Bachelors degree in accounting or business with an emphasis in accounting preferred Experience with grain accounting Valid drivers license Technical Skills: Strong understanding of general ledger accounting Strong understanding of grain markets and merchandising Attention to detail with the ability to self-check work for accuracy, clarity and thoroughness Possess organizational skills necessary to achieve promptness in meeting deadlines Ability to be at work on time, ensuring work responsibilities are covered when absent Computer Skills: Expertise with accounting software systems Expertise with MS Office, including advanced Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word skills Ability to troubleshoot and coordinate resolution with local computers and network
