Job Summary:
The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Criminal Division/Financial Remedies Section is seeking a Seized Property Specialist (SPS). This position is necessary to assist the Financial Remedies Section (FRS), including the Seized Property Manager, with functions and related responsibilities of processing seized assets and/or property - real, personal and cash. The position is critical and supports FRS in processing the seized assets associated with forfeiture cases. The SPS is tasked with handling property management for all FRS attorneys who prosecute large forfeiture cases.
The purpose of this position is to support the Financial Remedies Section and Seized Property Manager to define and coordinate actions related to the identification, evaluation, protection, preservation and disposition of seized real and personal property. Responsibilities include maintaining, tracking, reporting and distributing funds derived from the forfeited real and personal property to law enforcement partners.
In addition, the SPS is responsible for complex law enforcement assignments related to evidence derived from search warrants.
This position may be eligible for Remote Work two days a week based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.
Job Duties: Works closely with FRS Section Chief and Seized Property Manager and other Criminal Division managers, case attorneys, law enforcement partners and legal staff to define and coordinate actions related to the identification, evaluation, protection, preservation and disposition of seized real and personal property. Attends meetings as deemed appropriate by the Section Chief Counsel and performs other duties as assigned.
Assists in maintaining an electronic database, which identifies all property seized and the disposition of property and manages assets as required to assure no unreasonable loss of value. Assists in the preparation of reports as to the status of the management and control of seized real and personal property and its disposition, from seizure through litigation and final disposition and allocation.
Assists FRS and Seized Property Manager in coordinating with contracted property management companies to establish accurate valuation of seized real and personal property. This includes identifying required actions necessary to maintain or prepare the property for sale or divestment, conducting property inspections as necessary and insuring that all costs are accurately recorded and allocated to the property prior to the final distribution of the proceeds.
Tracks and preserves property seized for forfeiture, reviews receipts and disbursements, assists with the distribution process and coordinates the efforts of FRS attorneys, agents and various outside contractors engaged in maintaining and selling real and personal property.
Assists with Arizona Criminal Justice Commission funding requests and reporting requirements, and interacts with law enforcement regarding their requests for RICO expenditures.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of Agency and Section procedures; principles and practices of program administration.
Knowledge of legal procedures, rules of court and legal terminology as it pertains to forfeitures and seizures.
Knowledge of real property terminology and processing the sale of real property.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
Knowledge of principles and practices of property and evidence documentation, inventory and control; applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations, including those related to documentation, storage and disposal of evidence and property.
Knowledge of law enforcement information systems and procedures.
SKILLS
Excellent communication skills, in both oral and written communications.
Good interpersonal skills to work with internal personnel and external contacts including various law enforcement agencies, judges, court personnel, citizen and government audiences.
Excellent computer and software skills, including Microsoft Excel, database and records management software.
Skills in online research, including various government agency websites and court databases.
Skill in interaction with internal personnel and external contacts including law enforcement agents.
Skill in interpreting statutes, reported cases and legal documents.
Good interpersonal skills to work with internal personnel and external contacts including various law enforcement offices.

Ability to be patient, including with coworkers, staff, victims, law enforcement agencies and government partners.
Ability to represent the Attorney General Office in cooperative efforts with law enforcement agencies and community partners.
Ability to interact with outside entities with diplomacy and tact.
Knowledge of managing property and evidence. Knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies, standards and procedures that pertain to seized and forfeited assets. Strong Excel and project management skills. Knowledge of basic accounting principals, is a must.
Pre-Employment Requirements: • Travel is required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
