The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy (COP) invites applications for an open-rank full-time faculty position focused on rural health and pharmacy practice advancement. As a member of the COP Division of Pharmacy Practice and Science, the candidate’s primary practice site will be the OhioHealth O’Bleness Family Medicine Residency in Athens, OH (OH-FP) with some in-person visits to the OSU COP. The candidate will provide direct patient care; educate pharmacy and medicine professionals; implement innovative, interdisciplinary pharmacy practice; and conduct practice-based and/or educational research.
As noted, the teaching responsibilities of this position are two-fold:
COP teaching responsibilities (as a part of highly collaborative faculty teams in undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curricula) - Instruct undergraduate coursework, contribute to instruction in the PharmD curriculum, and precept PharmD students and pharmacy residents.
OH-FP teaching responsibilities (as a core faculty member of the medical residency) - Educate and advise the medical residents and rotating medical students, participate in planning and executing the program goals and curriculum.
Additionally, the candidate will work closely with partners at two university campuses to strengthen pathways for Ohio University (OU) students to be directly admitted to The Ohio State University PharmD program. Other duties may be assigned as needed and based on the successful candidate’s area of expertise. Participation in scholarly work that supports advancement of pharmacy practice and/or pharmacy education is expected. The faculty member will provide contributions to division, college, university, and professional service.
Applicants must hold a PharmD and have completed PGY1 Pharmacy Residency training or equivalent experience. The applicant should have 1-2 years direct patient care experience working as part of an interprofessional team. Previous engagement in team-based scholarship that advances practice, teaching experience, and an understanding of pharmacy practice innovation and transformation is required. The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills; the ability to collaborate with diverse teams providing optimal patient care and conducting research; and a strong desire to catalyze practice innovation. Evidence of didactic teaching experience and precepting pharmacy students is required. The applicant must hold pharmacist licensure or be eligible for licensure in Ohio.
Preference will be given to applicants with PGY2 residency training, board certification, or equivalent experience.
