Job OverviewThe Media Supervisor oversees day-to-day media strategy, planning, and buying to support multiple clients and integrated campaigns. Serves as a senior member of the Media Services team and provides oversight, coaching, and performance management of the Media Strategist. Must be able to utilize data, consumer behavior research, and media consumption habits to inform media strategy and conceptualize innovative traditional and digital media solutions.Who You AreA dynamic individual who guides the strategic vision of media plans and manages the interworking between other Civilian departments including strategy, creative, and digital departments to ensure alignment with media strategy. We offer a truly unique balance of professionalism and heart—and an office full of free snacks, a dog or two, and the occasional afternoon happy hour.ResponsibilitiesOversee development of integrated media strategies that meet campaign objectives, reach desired target audiences, and are supported with strong rationaleEstablish and build strong professional relationships internally (cross department) and externally (media vendors)Proactively lead and identify ways to innovate and advance media capabilities (e.g., POVs, recommendations, process improvements)Review and approve vendor proposals and ensure RFPs effectively communicate campaign strategy and needs that will best achieve each client’s unique media objectivesEnsure strong client rapport and a high level of confidence; accountable for stewardship of media plans, including flowchart changes, budgets, execution, reporting, optimization, and invoice reconciliationDevelop buying guidelines, supervise buying process, and ensure timely completion of day-to-day tasksReview and analyze campaign performance and ongoing optimizations to ensure results meet or exceed benchmarks with strong analytical skills to evaluate key metrics, develop insights, present campaign reporting, and relate results to client objectivesOversee professional development of team members and evaluate performance on an as needed basis and help prioritize daily workflow for team membersQualifications Essential:6+ years of experience in media planning, buying, and research with proven ability to develop and implement media plans that achieve specific, measurable resultsBachelor’s degreeExceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with ability to develop and tailor communications to effectively connect with diverse audiences; capable of adapting strategies and tactics to respond to client or audience feedback1+ year of supervisory experience with strong ability to manage people and multiple projects with competing prioritiesFluent in Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), GFK MRI/Simmons, Kantar, DCM, Google Analytics, Nielsen, etc.Strong working knowledge of technology, digital and social media imperativeExceptional interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skillsDesired:Passion for social change, government, or nonprofit arenasSelf-motivated, proactive, and entrepreneurial; demonstrated ability to work independently; figure-it-out mentalityGood listener who includes and engages others and inspires colleagues to their best performanceStrong working knowledge of technology, digital and social media imperativeAgile problem-solver, ability to navigate complex situations and manage ambiguity; excellent attention to detailVolunteerism, environmental awareness, diversity and inclusion awareness, and a commitment to social justice are all highly preferred candidate traits LocationThis position is a hybrid role based in San Diego, California.
