Job Description and Duties
METROPOLITAN STATE HOSPITAL- Located in Norwalk, Los Angeles County
This advertisement will run until filled with the following cutoff date for review of applications: 1st and 15th of each month.
Under direction of the Program Director of Enhancement Services and immediate supervision of the Patient Services Program Assistant, the Catholic Chaplain is responsible for providing spiritual guidance in religious and ethical areas to State hospital patients; conducts Catholic religious services and other rituals of the Catholic faith, provides meaningful hope and spirituality groups and other forms of Catholic education; collaborates and assists other Chaplains with interfaith services and as required; works in conjunction with interdisciplinary teams to address spiritual needs of patients, and performs other related work. The candidate must be an ordained Priest, duly accredited by and in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church and approved by the Bishop of the Diocese in which the institution is located.
Minimum Qualifications
Either I: Ordained priest, duly accredited by and in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church, and approved by the Bishop of the diocese in which the institution is located.
Or II:
A lay person or ordained deacon, with demonstrated pastoral competence, duly accredited for pastoral ministry by a nationally recognized Roman Catholic chaplain certification institution; and approved by the Bishop of the diocese in which the institution is located.
