Aaron’s Place Program Coordinator
Overdose Lifeline (ODL) is currently seeking an on-site program clinician to assist with programming of the Aaron’s Place youth prevention program; this program is specifically for youth ages 13-18 years.
Overdose Lifeline is implementing a program for Indiana teens (13-18) who are impacted by the substance use disorder of a family member. This is an extension of the Overdose Lifeline program Camp Mariposa- Aaron’s Place programming. Participants in this program attend sessions which teach positive coping skills, substance use prevention, mental health and suicide education and awareness.
The Aaron’s Place Program Coordinator is responsible for the execution of all prevention, education, and support activities for the teen program. It is the responsibility of this individual, along with the clinical support team, to:
1. In collaboration with the Director of Youth Programming and the Clinical Director, lead, plan and implement programming for the 13–18-year-old age group.
2. In collaboration with the Director of Youth Programming and the Clinical Director, lead, plan and implement volunteer/mentor trainings.
3. In collaboration with the Director of Youth Programming and the Clinical Director, participant in family intake interviews.
4. Ensure appropriate documentation regarding interaction with youth and families.
5. Plan, coordinate, implement, and lead, education, and support activities during the teen program sessions in collaboration with the Clinical Director, and provide guidance to the clinical support staff, mentors, and volunteers as they prepare and facilitate assigned activities.
6. Provide clinical support for all youth, staff, mentors, and volunteers during the program, including overseeing educational and support activities as well as suicide prevention activities.
7. Provide program direction for the execution of a virtual element of this program to include building connection with attendees, monitoring the ability to apply a trauma sensitive environment during the programming.
8. Partner with the Director of Youth Programming to coordinate communication outside of the sessions between mentors (or staff) and participants.
9. In coordination with the Director of Youth Programming and Clinical Director, implement continued care programming for participants including referrals for needed services.
· Developing communication strategies/ participant supports that occur between sessions.
· Planning and implementing in person activities for participants local to their area.
· Recruit and train additional mentors.
o Involve mentors in leading parts of the session, empower mentors to feel more ownership in the program.
· Report to camp and clinical directors about the participation of Junior Counselors in the APEX program.
Additional responsibilities as a member of the Camp Mariposa- Aaron’s Place Team include but are not limited to the following.
· Assisting Director of Youth Programming at high volume times.
o Traveling to Jameson camp on Camp weekends to assist in setting up for camp and break down.
· Maintaining and organizing inventory
· Prepping for first camps/ mentor training
· Assist in planning and implementing Family Days for both Indianapolis and Southern Indiana.
This position works under the Supervision of the Director of Youth Programming and the Clinical Director of Youth Programming. This position will also assist the Chief Executive Officer with other Overdose Lifeline programs as required including the annual Golf Outing, Overdose Awareness Day, etc. In addition, this position will assist with other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Bachelor’s in social service degree required. Strongly recommend an MA-level degree in occupational therapy, counseling, or social work.
