Vet assistants are expected to assist the veterinarian(s) in the care of animals. They may assist in helping clean and wrap wounds, check vital statistics, collect samples, and administer medication. A vet assistant is expected to be able to perform basic lab work, including but not limited to urinalysis and blood tests, and assist with procedures such as teeth cleaning, spays, and neuters. Vet assistants help during examinations and surgical procedures by restraining animals when necessary and placing intravenous catheters. Vet assistants are also responsible for stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools, and ensuring that equipment is in working order. Vet assistants are expected to communicate with clients and update patient files. Experience is a MUST. If you do not have at least one year of experience in the veterinary field please do not apply. Due to the high volume of applicants please do NOT contact the clinic in reference to your application.
