Job Description

***This is a contract to perm position and we will not be going through a third party.***

 

Overview:

Provides technical support of the enterprise network infrastructure and associated server platforms, as well as technical support for desktop and network devices. Installs, tests, and maintains all server related software and system software, and performs capacity planning on the network and server platforms.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs network administration functions to include security, change control, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Provides Tier II technical support for the enterprise network and servers. Recommends solutions to problems and notifies management of potential problem areas.
  • Researches and evaluates hardware and software products related to the network and server platforms. Makes recommendations based on technical aspects of the product. Provides input as to the impact on the client.
  • Implements computing systems and environments from initialization and configuration of network and server hardware and software, to establishing stable client interfaces and environments.
  • Performs performance monitoring and tuning on the network and associated server platforms. Performs capacity planning on the network and server platforms. Keeps management informed on resource utilization usage trends.
  • Performs administrative tasks associated with project management, reporting, technical documentation, and procedures. Assists manager in developing and maintaining project plans.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor’s degree and at least ten years network experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

Formal education or training classes regarding networking, server and desktop operating systems, and personal computers is required. Microsoft or Cisco certification a plus.

A thorough understanding of troubleshooting and logic is necessary. A comprehensive knowledge of computers, networks, and peripherals is necessary.

Thorough knowledge of Windows desktops and servers, TCP/IP, and external connectivity including, but not limited to, remote access, Internet, and WAN.

A working knowledge of capacity planning and performance monitoring and tuning is required.

Good oral and written communication skills are required.

Knowledge of project management and implementation along with research skills is required.
