Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW: Completes recurring field audits and assists with complex credit structured field examinations of asset-based and commercial lending transactions to determine the quality, quantity and validity of collateral, as well as the overall condition of the books and records of the customer. This position is based in Chicago and may require extensive travel throughout the Midwest Region of the United States. Base salary plus draw/commission.


  1. Completes established written reports of field examination findings and any other reports deemed necessary to demonstrate the collateral position of the client/prospect to the lending institution's commercial lending personnel.
  2. Evaluates collateral and establishes collateral values in accordance with accepted Bank procedures.
  3. Uses best efforts and attention to detail through established procedures and other means deemed necessary to recognize questionable items and unfavorable trends.
  4. Uses established testing procedures and diligence to determine, independently, that data sent to the lender is accurate and in compliance with the legal documentation and internal credit approvals.
  5. Is able to develop alternative testing procedures in the field, as deemed necessary during the examination process.
  6. Acts as on-site agent of lender to verify compliance with workout action plans, as directed by the Department Head
  7. Completes special projects and/or additional duties as required by the Field Audit Manager or the Field Audit Department.


  1. Degree in accounting or finance is required.
  2. 2 to 4 years experience as a field examiner working with audit systems and procedures in an asset based and/or commercial lending environment.
  3. P.C. literate, Windows 2000/XP and Office 2000/XP experience preferred.
  4. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to exercise prudent judgment to make decisions affecting both customers and the lender.
  6. Excellent customer service skills – ability to deal with internal as well as external customers
  7. Capable of working in a high stress, fast-paced environment
