Power System Technical Engineer – 83311

The Person

We are seeking a dynamic Engineer who will work on our existing systems level APU/CPU power management/architecture, features, and implementation, as well as develop positive relationships with program decision makers across our local and global organizations. This person will demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to drive desired results. You will be an effective communicator, influencing and driving for results at various levels within AMD and with our customers.

Key Responsibilities

The Power System Technical Engineer will optimize the system level power attainment solutions for our Semi Custom APU/CPU products including working alongside our System Architects to set and achieve power attainment objectives.

In this role, you will be responsible for technical collaboration with multiple functions to enable and optimize system power management features for our Semi-Custom solutions while directing the unit tests, integration, optimization, and validation of all power management features.

  • Develop and execute power performance targets spanning multiple usage scenarios throughout the entire hardware and software full stack
  • Provide feedback and improvement ideas to the various teams, including the power management architecture, IP, SoC, O/S, FW, and silicon enablement teams
  • Communicate frequent status updates and reports to multi-level partners including an executive-level audience
  • Serve as point of escalation for any of the functional teams involved and resolve technical and resource challenges and hurdles

Preferred Experience

We are looking for an End-to-End Power Systems Technical Engineer with experience in semiconductor, hardware, software and/or firmware development. You will have experience such as:

  • Prior hands-on, working knowledge of system architecture and power attainment on APU/CPU/GPU/SoC
  • Familiarity with OS level power management policies including ACPI, C-States, and P-States
  • Experience in custom product development/validation with hardware platforms and software ecosystem
  • Debug experience in X86, ARM, GPU solutions preferred
  • Business savvy; able to think strategically and make intelligent technical vs business trade-off recommendations
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, matrix, technical organization

Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, Masters Degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience
