Under the Director of the Office of Domestic Social Development, serves the U.S Bishops as senior advisor on domestic policy.The Advisor analyzes relevant issues, policies, legislation, and regulations, and advises the Director, other staff, and the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development regarding their implications; advises diocesan staff, writes letters and statements, and prepares reports, presentations and testimony; and serves as liaison to Washington-based national organizations and diocesan groups.Serves as part of a team within the Office and the Department.The Advisor demonstrates shared qualities of effectiveness in all work interactions. Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred Major Field/Specialty:Domestic public policy, law, and/or Catholic Social Teaching preferred.Knowledge of and commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church, especially Catholic Social Teaching.Experience in policy development and advocacy on issues of life and dignity, justice, and peace.Exhibit positive leadership within the staff and among peers with the ability to build consensus and problem-solving in complex situationsAbility to communicate well orally and in writing and to articulate complex positions persuasively.
