Engineering Specialist assist Engineers in the development and analysis of products, materials, processes, or equipment. Compiles, analyzes and reports operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes, or materials.

Qualification Requirements

·        Minimum 5 years of experience  in plastics or medical device manufacturing, or an Associate’s degree with 3 years of experience  in plastics or medical device manufacturing

·        Knowledge of project management techniques and tools

·        Ability to prioritize multiple projects at once

·        Troubleshooting / problem solving skills

·        Hands-on problem solver

·        Experience operating complex machines

·        May require travel

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·        Utilizing either written or oral format, ability to effectively communicate critical design/project information to customers

·        Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

·        Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

·        Read schematics, assembly drawings, data sheets, and process sheets to perform testing, build fixtures, checkout and trouble-shoot equipment.

·        Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers (internal and external), and the general public

·        Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry 

·        Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

·        Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products

·        Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies

·        Must possess strong planning and organizational skills

·        Ability to work independently as well as in a group environment

·        Knowledge of clean room protocol, procedures and material safety data sheet (MSDS)

Essential Functions 

·        Completes project/product development tasks to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining

         product/process documentation, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, and validating equipment and processes

·        Apply knowledge in inventing / creating concepts and designs/approaches for new products/processes/test methods

·        Designs, procures, and fabricates simple tooling and fixtures

·        Designs and coordinates rudimentary engineering tests and experiments

·        Applies the Technical Development Process (TDP)/Product Development Process (PDP) methodologies

·        Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community

·        Completes tasks on engineering documentation

·        Train technicians/operators on new processes and/or test procedures

·        Identifies areas for improvement, suggests solutions, and submits idea records

Physical Demands

·        Standing or sitting during duration of shift

·        Working on PCs

·        Lifting up to 25 lbs

·        Fine manipulation; hand/eye coordination

Work Environment

·        General office environment

·        Clean room environment where gowns, hair cover, shoe covers, safety glasses and gloves are worn at all times

·        Exposure to extreme heat

·        Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes

·        The noise level usually moderate-increased 

·        Proximity to moving mechanical parts
