Job SummaryPerform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Closely follows standard procedures in laboratory testing, evaluating various routine assay, and in performing tasks related to stability studies, sterility testing, investigating product complaints, and evaluating new and existing product. Assists in operating manufacturing equipment and systems in a lab environment along with purification product-related operations. Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to ensure product specifications are met. Assist in the assembly or sub-assembly of life science products and devices. Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)Duties usually consist of making measurements, performing several routine quantitative and qualitative biological or chemical analytical tests according to standard procedures.Operates purification equipment for manufacturing purposes according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Assists with experiments to develop scaled-up purification processes.Provides technical support for production operations.Assists with the calibration, trouble shooting, and validation of lab equipment.Independently reads specifications and procedures. Requires knowledge of the processesinvolved in documenting experiments.Maintains laboratory notebook, testing records, or worksheets according to established laboratory and manufacturing procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)High school diploma or GED required; associates degree or BA/BS Degree in science preferred3 -5 years equivalent experience in a laboratory setting and understanding of laboratory equipment or college degreeExcellent knowledge of production and manufacturing environment.Knowledgeable of biological/pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.Excellent time management, communication, and organization skillsKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security clearances and medical checkupsRequires knowledge in using various instruments to prepare for and perform testsStrong communication skillsExcellent Customer Service Skills; display a professional can-do attitudePerform duties with the highest regard for safety and qualityAbility to understand and follow site protocols, policies and proceduresMust be flexible, forward- thinking, motivated, and have the ability to act independentlyValid Driver’s LicenseMust be able to lift up to 25lbs minimumBasic computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and ExcelAbility to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesKnowledge of VWR’s products and servicesProblem-solving skillsENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)The work environment characteristics and physical effort described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
