Responsibilities include writing firmware for mixed-signal embedded systems and communications interfaces in Windows/RTOS environments; design of test software and test suite packages including selection of accompanying commercially available test equipment and design of nonstandard test equipment; and sustaining engineering support for existing embedded design portfolios incorporating a broad mix of software and communication protocols, the latter including RS 232, IEEE-4882, USB, ethernet and CAN. Participation in preparation of specifications, development of test plans and conduct of design verification testing are included, as is preparation and maintain design and test documentation. Candidates must have a minimum of 2to4 years previous experience at an electronics manufacturer (in a design role) and exhibit a deep understanding of embedded firmware design, both hardware and firmware. The Familiarity/experience with design documentation software including schematic capture and PWB/CCA design (Altium preferred). An understanding of control theory is mandatory, as is knowledge of the principles of signal processing techniques Experience with C and C++ are mandatory; Visual Basic, assembler and PLM are desirable Practical knowledge of and experience with ethernet, USB and CAN bus communications are required, with RS 232, IEEE488-2 highly desirable.
