The function of a Layout Technician II is to run and maintain the coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Job includes doing necessary dimensional layouts via CMM or other means to ensure customer and Quality Assurance standards are being met and maintained.
•Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
•Follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs and conduct Team Safety Talks as required.
•Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna’s Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
•Perform layout inspections on product, fixtures or dies as required. This would include first article layouts, gage reproducibility & repeatability studies and capability studies.
•Ability to run, train, and program on BRAVO CMM Systems
•Ability to run, train, and program on Mercury CMM Systems
•Ability to run, train, and program on Zeiss CMM Systems
•Functional understanding to support white/blue light Opticell and Optigo Systems
•Maintain gauge, checking fixture control and calibration.
•Have all gauges, inspection fixtures and test equipment identified clearly, properly and readily available for use.
•All gauges, inspection fixtures and test equipment are to be calibrated and approved at established intervals.
•All gauges, inspection fixtures and test equipment that are not fully functional and/or calibrated are properly removed from use.
•Maintain annual part layout.
•Maintain annual fixture gage reproducibility and repeatability studies.
•Help maintain test equipment and storage area in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
•Help instruct and guide CMM trainees and Layout Technicians I on all metrological requirements, as well as other requirements to maintain quality products on the production floor and validity of CMM Department documentation.
•Prepares and maintains programs and reports from layout inspections.
•Fully understand quality standards, procedures and customer requirements.
•Promote good housekeeping

Knowledge and Education
•High School Diploma or GED
•Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Working knowledge of CMM programming, Microsoft application certification, Statistical Process Control including FARO CAM2 SPC Process Control.
•Forklift and crane certification will be an asset.
•Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
