Team Lead - Histology Lab

The Team Lead contributes to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients by accurately processing surgical pathology specimens. Responsibilities include processing, embedding, and microtomy of all surgical tissues; and frozen section staining; routine H&E and special staining such as electrommicrotomy, immunoflourscence, and immunohistochemistry; tissue processing; equipment maintenance and record retention; and knowledge of pathology Laboratory Information System. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the histology department in the absence of the histology supervisor. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of data generated and work performed; assists in Quality Management and problem solving; participates in testing and implementation of new equipment; develops protocols and QC slides; helps train new personnel; monitors supplies as needed; helps coordinate staff shift coverage and workload distribution; and assists in other activities as directed.
