Switchboard Operator - Isipingo

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To operate switchboard to receive calls and pass them on to the correct person or department.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

To answer incoming, internal and designate outgoing calls in a professional and pleasant manner.

Liaise and communicate with doctors, executive personnel, public, and colleagues.

Designate complaints to relevant channels.

Keep abreast of all relevant information and contingency plans.

Update hospital telephone lists and relevant telephone numbers.

Answer calls within 3 rings.

Operate a busy switchboard.

Facilitate telephone calls in and out of the department.

Log calls for hospital staff and patients.

Log calls for faulty lines and the switchboard.

Apply knowledge of health and safety rules and emergency evacuation procedures.

Assist with reception duties when required.
