Key Responsibilities

• Prepare school for entry; check for efficient operation of electrical and mechanical equipment; secure buildings as arranged with the Principal and/or Supervisor.
• Sweep, strip, scrub, rinse, wax, polish and/or buff hard surface floors and stairs; vacuum rugs and carpets and spot clean; wipe and polish ledges, furniture; clean blackboards; wash windows and walls; maintain cleanliness of staff room appliances.
• Clean and disinfect washrooms, drinking fountains and sinks; replenish expendable supplies.
• Collect refuse and prepare for disposal; i.e., empty pencil sharpeners, waste baskets, etc.
• Remove snow and debris from walkways; sand and/or salt if necessary.
• Make routine checks of building(s), playground, playground equipment, fences, roof drains, etc. for hazardous situations (loose bolts, broken chains, glass, poisonous weeds, etc.); maintain a playground equipment lo...
