Specialist - Psychiatry

Provides psychiatric care to inpatients and outpatients with mental or psychological illnesses. Performs psychiatric consultations and handles referrals from other physicians. Engages in preventive care as part of an integrated program of curative and preventive medicine.

Responsibilities

Provides the full range of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment to patients both the inpatient and outpatient.

Handles consultations of cases referred to him from other services by offering clinical advice or assuming full responsibility of the care.

Contributes to the orientation of physicians, psychologists, nurses and other Medical Organization personnel in the early detection, recognition, management or referral of psychiatric cases.

Participates in the continuing medical education for physicians and nurses by talks in staff meetings, presenting cases in ward rounds, and lecturing to nurses.

Participates in teaching and quality assurance programs.
