About the Role

The Transplant Nurse provides perioperative care to patients receiving organs by means of transplant surgery. The Transplant Nurse is responsible for providing healthcare pre and post-surgery to living donor recipients.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Collects data pertinent to the patient’s and donor’s health status
+ Analyzes the clinical assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and patient needs
+ Coordinates care delivery
+ Assists in the patient’s preparation for surgery
+ Assists physician during transplant surgery
+ Assists living donor patients in their recovery from surgery
+ Provides healthcare to the transplant or donor recipient patient during the transplantation process
+ Monitors recipient closely after the procedure in the event of rejection
+ Educates the families of patients on organ and/or bone marrow transplant or donor recipients
