About the Role
**Job Description:**
The RN Lactation Consultant is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN Lactation Consultant employs technology, therapeutic interventions, and evidence-based practices, and coordinates care with other team members. Additionally, the RN Lactation Consultant provides breastfeeding education, consultation, and counseling to support new mothers.
**Essential Functions**
+ Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates breastfeeding management for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings by utilizing the nursing process.
+ Provides holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support and care from preconception to weaning for women and their families. Acts as an advocate for breastfeeding as the child-feeding norm.
