Job Overview

The Department of Psychiatry in Nanaimo is seeking a part‑time General Psychiatrist to provide services at the Parksville Treatment Centre (PTC) for substance use care. The position requires a minimum of 44 weeks of service per year, averaging about 7.5 hours per week (approximately 330 hours per year, equivalent to 0.2 FTE).

The candidate will work collaboratively with the PTC team and other physicians and health professionals, including addiction medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, clinicians, and nurses. The patient population includes inpatients receiving up to 90 days of substance use treatment, with 19 adult patients admitted at any given time, all of whom have substance use disorder and co‑occurring mild to moderate mental health challenges and/or chronic medical comorbidities.
