Position Overview

Postdoc in Brain Vascular Research at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Copenhagen. We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a one‑year position, commencing on 1 Oct 2026. This role focuses on brain vascular signalling in health and ischemic stroke, using in‑vivo two‑photon microscopy in an awake rodent model.

Research Context

The Cai Lab studies how the neurovascular unit and neural circuits fail in brain disease and translates this knowledge into new neurotechnologies and therapies. The research has two connected pillars: cellular mechanisms of neurovascular dysfunction—focus on neurovascular coupling, blood flow regulation, vascular cell signalling in health, ageing, and ischemic stroke/reperfusion injury; and the development of novel neuroprosthetic and neuromodulation strategies for brain disorders such as implantable micromagnetic coil‑based microdevices for vision restoration and epilepsy.
