Course Number and Name: MUS7406H Music Psychology

Course Description: This course is an introduction to music psychology, covering music perception and production, responses to music, and the use of music in everyday life. Topics include the role of music as a mediating stimulus, physiological foundations of music perception, models of mood and emotion, the relationship between music and language, and music cognition. Students will learn to understand and critique basic science and clinical research, design and implement experimental protocols, interpret research data, and propose future inquiries related to music in healthcare. Course requirements include weekly reading responses and a semester‑long research project.
