Overview
A motor vehicle mechanic (automobile) diagnoses, repairs, and maintains passenger vehicles, light trucks, and other combustion engine vehicles.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair vehicles using computerized diagnostic equipment and reference to technical manuals
- Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes and brake service
- Repair engine components and other mechanical systems to meet safety and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality control procedures
- Proficiently use hand tools and refer to technical manuals to complete repairs
