Summary This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Superintendent, House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent, Facility Operations Division, Mechanical Systems Branch, Mechanical Systems Day, Evening or Night Sections. Responsibilities The incumbent serves as Industrial Equipment Mechanic. The tour of duty is Monday-Friday 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Duties include, but are not limited to: Troubleshoot, repair and overhaul automotive and industrial equipment such as garage sweepers and scrubbers, riding floor varnishers and scrubbers, forklifts and pallet jacks. Maintain and repair gasoline and diesel engines. Troubleshoot and installs alternators, clutches, drive shafts, propellers, bearings, struts, gauges, pumps and other components. Set up and operate machine tools to manufacture component parts or re-machine existing parts. Charge and service batteries. Change oil and replace filters.
