CNC Machine Operator

Position Description CNC Machine Operator Department : Production General Reports to : Supervisor 1. Job Purpose  Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. 2. Key Result Area  Maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment’s. 3. Key Responsibilities  Create, load, examine and modify CNC programs.  Set up tools and load materials onto CNC machine.  Plans machining by studying drawings, specifications, machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.  Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points.  Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches. Calculating requirements and proving part programs.  Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chuck, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
