CMA Essential Duties and Responsibilities


+ Performs peripheral blood draws, enters orders in the EMR and sends blood to the laboratory per tube system.

+ Obtains and records patient vital signs, may include weight and height.

+ Floats to various oncology departments, performing duties as assigned or needed.

+ Assists with patient transfers.

+ Transports blood products from the hospital laboratory to the Infusion Unit.

+ Assists with relieving staff for breaks for the medical oncology clinic and for the infusion unit secretary.

+ Assists with a variety of minor procedures, exams or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned

+ Maintains inventory of supplies. Performs miscellaneous office duties including, but not limited to, filing and retrieving medical records, operating various office machines, ex. Fax machine, Copier.

+ Administers IM and subcutaneous medications as directed
