The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Boiler Plant operator in safely operating and monitoring large boilers located at Power Plant 2 which supplies high pressure steam used to operate prototype catapult systems at the Navy Testing Facility. The boilers have an operating preassure of 1,200 PSI with a capacity of 165,000 lbs. of steam per hour. Responsibilities - Performs work as assigned by the operator in charge of the watch. Under the direction of Boiler Plant Operator, lights off and secures boilers by opening and closing valves, cuts boiler in on line with another boiler. - Checks equipment, etc. At two-hour intervals, checks accumulator and catapult areas. - Performs Scheduled Maintenance.
