About the Role
AAD/USSSA is currently hiring for baseball officials for the youth programs in the Abq / Rio Rancho area. This is a part-time position on 28-30 weekend dates (Saturday and Sunday most dates / some weeknight opportunities) from February through November.
The official is the person charged with officiating the game, including beginning and ending the game, enforcing the rules of the game and the grounds, making judgment calls on plays, and handling the disciplinary actions. The job of a baseball umpire requires quick thinking, common sense, and confidence. When the ball is in play, the umpire sees the action, assesses the situation, and makes the call -- all in a matter of seconds. The successful umpire has a thorough knowledge of the rulebook, is even-tempered, and is mentally strong enough to handle situations under stressful conditions.
