Associate Head: Built Environment

Overview

York St John University is a modern institution based in historic York. We are excited to expand our Built Environment portfolio and seek an Associate Head to develop and lead this new academic area.

Role

The Associate Head will work with industry partners, lead the development of a strategy for the Built Environment programmes, and build a high-performing academic community. The position involves recruiting faculty, securing technical support, and contributing to the School Academic Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

• Lead engagement with employers and professional bodies to shape an industry‑embedded curriculum.
• Recruit and support a team of academics and industry practitioners.
• Work with school directors and the Head of School on staffing, recruitment, space utilisation, resource needs and external partnerships.
