About the Role
Overview
Position: Assistant Chief Medical Examiner (Pathologist I-IV). Role reports to the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner. Location: Edmonton, Alberta. Employment type: Temporary (3-year contract). Hours: 36.25 per week. This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies within the OCME. Closing date: June 30, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations of unexplained natural deaths and all unnatural deaths under the Fatality InquiriesAct.
- Perform the full working duties of a Forensic Pathologist, including external examinations and autopsies, to establish decedent identity and determine cause and manner of death.
- Prepare reports documenting cause of death and provide expert testimony to criminal and civil courts.
- Collaborate with Forensic Pathology Professionals on niche cases as a member of the team.
